Break shifts
Claiming your hours for a break by dragging on the break calendar.
This page is a placeholder. Its structure is fixed; the writing lands in a later phase.
You claim your own break hours on the break calendar. Nobody builds you a break schedule.
Do it
Open More , then Break shifts .
- Pick a day inside the break.
Drag down the empty space to pick your hours. You pick a time, not a desk. The app fills any open seat.
Tap Claim .
What you’ll see
Your hours fill in with your name, and the This break meter climbs.
Rules that apply
- The calendar opens 14 days before the break’s first day and closes one day before it starts. Every day of the break closes together, whatever day the shift falls on.
- First come, first served. A fully staffed block is read only, because a desk can never be over-staffed.
- Thanksgiving, fall break, and spring break cap you at 40 hours. The cap is hard, so a drag past it is refused, not warned. See Hours, caps, and attribution.
- A shift you give back before the calendar closes returns to the calendar for anyone to take.
- Tick I have no hours this break to stop the reminder three days out. It does not stop you claiming later.
If it goes wrong
You only got part of what you dragged. Somebody claimed the rest first. Drag what is left.
The banner reads Claiming closed. What is unclaimed, and anything given back now, is in Open Shifts.
The drag will not go further. You are at the break cap, or the next block is full.
