Asking the desk assistant
What the assistant can answer, what it will not answer, and why it reads the knowledge base instead of making things up.
This page is a placeholder. Its structure is fixed; the writing lands in a later phase.
The desk assistant answers desk questions out of Housing’s own documents, in one line you can say out loud.
Do it
Open More , then the desk assistant.
Type the question the way you would say it. “Can a resident of another house sign out a cart?”
- Read the first line. That is your answer.
- Open the sources underneath if you need the document itself.
What you’ll see
One or two short sentences, then nothing. It does not repeat your question or list what it looked at, because a resident is standing at your desk waiting.
The documents it used sit under the answer, folded up until you tap them.
Rules that apply
- It answers from Housing’s documents, not from itself. No document covers your question and it says so, then points you at a person.
- It knows what time it is. Who you call for the same problem changes between business hours and after hours, so it answers for right now unless you name another time.
- It can see your schedule, and only yours. Ask for your next shift or your hours this week. It cannot look up anyone else. See Your hours.
- It never touches your shifts. It cannot claim, drop, swap, float, or cancel anything, so every one of those stays a thing you do yourself on the app’s own screens.
- It writes a page, you send it. When something needs a manager, it drafts the message and works out who gets it. Nothing goes out until you read it and tap send. See Roles and the duty hierarchy.
If it goes wrong
Fire, injury, or a door emergency. It hands you the protocol and tells you to call. Call. It is never the emergency line.
Someone wants in and it is not sure. It tells you not to let them in, and who to ask. Nobody is authorised by an app.
“I could not find that.” Nothing in the documents answers you. Ask your manager rather than guessing, because a made-up answer at the desk is worse than no answer.
You asked what happened to a specific resident. It will not say. It gives guidance, never case detail.
