Hours reporting and caps

Reading the hours report, and raising or lowering a worker's weekly cap when the standard one does not fit.

This page is a placeholder. Its structure is fixed; the writing lands in a later phase.

The hours report shows where a worker’s week went. The weekly cap is what stops it growing.

Do it

  1. Open Hours report and read the week against the cap on the header. Each worker splits three ways: worked at home, worked while floated out, worked on a cross-house pickup.

  2. If that week’s cap is wrong, open Weekly hours cap .
  3. Enter the Monday of the week under Week beginning Monday .
  4. Choose 20 hours soft or 40 hours hard. Soft warns the worker and lets them carry on. Hard refuses the claim, and no manager can override it.

  5. Write an audit note, then save. Stored with your name and the time you saved it.

What you’ll see

That week’s row changes from Profile default to Manual override , showing the new number and its soft or hard tag. Every hours meter on both apps reads the new value.

Rules that apply

  • A week runs Monday to Sunday, never a rolling seven days, so each week settles alone. See Hours, caps, and attribution.
  • Hours count at the worker’s home house, whatever desk they stood at, so somebody you floated out still appears on your report.
  • The report counts assigned time, not worked time. A worker who stays late waiting on a late floater is not credited for those minutes.
  • A float never consults a cap, because it relocates hours the worker was already scheduled to work. See Floating: overview.
  • A season sets its own cap. Summer weeks carry whatever the Administrator configured, so never assume the number is 20 or 40. See Operating seasons and calendar.

If it goes wrong

You lowered the cap and nobody lost hours. That is correct. Shifts already assigned stand and pending floats are honored. Only new claims, swaps and floats are refused.

The house switcher does not move the report. It follows the switcher for an Administrator and the HMOD on duty. Everyone else reads their own house.

The cap screen says managers only. You are an SM. Ask your HM or BA to make the change.
